Rocket Readings is a lively poetry event. Mingle with the poets and listen to them read. Poetry by Kaye Aldenhoven and Irene Wilkie will be followed by an open mic session (three minute limit). Presented by the South Coast Writers Centre in collaboration with Wollongong Art Gallery with the support of ARTS NSW. MC Linda Godfrey.

Aldenhoven,-Kaye
Kaye Aldenhoven (Australian)

Kaye Aldenhoven lives in the wet-dry tropics of Northern Territory. She is passionate about family, her garden, NT plants and birds, NT history, poetry. Knowledge enriches Kaye’s poetry, and makes it challenging. I write about country because I love it, said Kaye. Kaye has three published collections; In my husband’s country, SKIN, Botanica erotica, from Chris Mansell’s PressPress. Twice Kaye has won NT Red Earth Poetry Award, and been short-listed many times.

 
Wilkie,-Irene
Irene Wilkie (Australian)

Irene Wilkie’s work has appeared in many anthologies and journals including Blue Dog, Poetrix, Idiom 23, fourW eighteen, fourW twenty-four, Five Bells, Going Down Swinging, Broadkill Review USA, Idiom 23, Australian Reader, Divan, the Henry Lawson Festival of the Arts Anthology, Award Winning Australian Writing 2011, Notes for the Translators 2012 ed. Kit Kelen and Australian Poetry Members Anthology 2013. Her first book of poetry Love and Galactic Spiders and her second, Extravagance(2013) were published by Ginninderra Press.

Linda Godfrey (Australian)

Linda Godfrey is an editor, judge and publicist for indie publishing house, Spineless Wonders and works as a freelance editor. Her fiction and poetry has appeared in Cordite, the UTS writers’ anthology Nine Tenths Below, other anthologies, audio anthologies by River Road Press and the Spineless Wonders anthology Escape. She has been co-editor for the two Spineless Wonders anthologies, Small Wonder and Australian Icons, and is co-editing the 2014 anthology, Writing to the Edge.
