Even before Google controversially demolished the privacy walls between its various products, we were already living in the total surveillance society. With every keystroke we are voluntarily telling companies, governments and heaven knows who else an awful lot about ourselves. Should we be worried about the uses to which this information could be put? Technology writer Stilgherrian and social media consultant Thomas Tudehope tell ABC Radio National's Marc Fennell about the implications of what we share.

Stilgherrian (Australian)

Stilgherrian is a freelance journalist, commentator and podcaster covering the intersection of the internet, politics, society and the media, with a particular focus on information security and privacy issues, cybercrime and cyberwar. His work is published by ZDNet Australia, Crikey, Technology Spectator, CSO Online, ABC The Drum, The Sydney Morning Herald and others. In the distant past he studied computing science and linguistics before a media career that included ABC Radio and the insanity of the first dot-com boom.

Thomas Tudehope (Australian)

Thomas Tudehope is one of Australia's most recognised social media experts. Thomas pioneered the use of social media and online activism in Australian politics through his work with Malcolm Turnbull as a cabinet minister, leader of the Opposition and member for Wentworth. Since then Thomas has worked at Sky News and at social media advisory firm SR7. He now runs his own social media consultancy. Thomas has been widely published on issues such as online privacy, cyber bullying and media in the digital age.
