With a third in her Rowland Sinclair series under her belt, Sulari Gentill is now adept at the genteel 1930s-based crime fiction genre. She tells us how to maintain the tension. She talks to Candida Baker.

Sulari Gentill (Australian)

Sulari Gentill is author of the acclaimed Rowland Sinclair series. The first in the series, A Few Right Thinking Men, was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Book. The third book, Miles Off Course, was released in February 2012 and the fourth, Paving The New Road, will be out in August 2012. Sulari is also author of the Hero Trilogy. The second book in the series, Trying War, was released in March 2012 and has been described as a “worthy sequel” to the first in the series, Chasing Odysseus.

Candida Baker (Australian)

Candida Baker is an author, editor, photographer and natural horsemanship practitioner. She has had numerous fiction and non-fiction books published. Her most recent book is an anthology The Wisdom of Women. As a journalist she has been editor of The Weekend Australian Magazine, arts editor of The Sydney Morning Herald and a feature writer for The Age and in 2011 she was Director of the Byron Bay Writers’ Festival. She lives in the hills behind Byron Bay with too many animals and several children.
