Is there a connection between our inner, personal and spiritual lives and the political, social and economic turmoil that surrounds us? Drawing on classic teachings of humanism, Stephanie Dowrick talks to Simon Longstaff about the urgent need for a spiritual climate change.

Stephanie Dowrick (Australian)

Dr Stephanie Dowrick, ordained in 2005 as an interfaith minister, is an adjunct fellow at the University of Western Sydney and a regular speaker for the Breast Cancer Network Australia. Her books include In the Company of Rilke, Forgiveness and Other Acts of Love, Choosing Happiness and Seeking the Sacred. She was ‘Inner Life’ columnist for Good Weekend magazine from 2001 to 2010 and has been a frequent guest on ABC Radio. Her latest book is Everyday Kindness.

Simon Longstaff (Australian)

Dr Simon Longstaff has a PhD in philosophy from
Cambridge University. His doctoral research centred on related questions arising in the areas of political philosophy, ethics and the philosophy of education. He is the inaugural executive director of St James Ethics Centre. His book, Hard Cases, Tough Choices, was published in 1997. Simon was inaugural president of The Australian Association for and Applied Ethics, is a fellow of the World Economic Forum and serves on a number of company boards.
