Ready to give J.K. Rowling a run for her money but not sure where to start? An expert panel of children’s authors and editors - Emily Rodda, Chris Morphew, Sue Whiting and Hilary Rogers - explores what it takes to make it (and to stay on top) in the world of children’s publishing.

Chris Morphew (Australian)

Chris Morphew was born in Sydney in 1985. His experiences as a qualified primary school teacher, combined with his own formative high school years, have resulted in unintentional invaluable research for his writing. Chris is one of the most popular pseudonym authors behind the multi-million-selling Zac Power series. His fan base continues to grow with each subsequent release of his bestselling six-part YA series, The Phoenix Files. Chris still lives in Sydney and continues to divide his time between writing and casual teaching.

Sue Whiting (Australian)

Sue Whiting started her working life as a primary school teacher with a special interest in literacy education and children’s literature. In 2005 Sue left teaching to pursue a career in children’s book publishing and now works as a children’s book editor. She is also a successful children’s author who has written more than 60 books, including picture books, chapter books and novels for teens.

Emily Rodda (Australian)

Emily Rodda is one of Australia's most popular and successful children's authors. A former publisher and editor of The Australian Women’s Weekly, she also writes adult fiction under her real name, Jennifer Rowe. She has won the CBCA Book of the Year Award (Younger Readers) an unprecedented five times. Her Deltora Quest series, published in 35 countries and translated into 29 languages, has sold close to 16 million copies. The Silver Door is the second book in her new series, The Three Doors.
