Kate Grenville's bestselling novel The Secret River has been published in more than 20 countries and received numerous awards; it won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and the Miles Franklin Literary Award. The companion memoir is Searching for the Secret River. The Idea of Perfection won Britain’s prestigious Orange Prize for Fiction. Kate’s most recent novel, Sarah Thornhill, is a sequel to The Secret River and makes up the third novel in a loose historical trilogy that includes The Lieutenant.

Ashley Hay is a former literary editor of The Bulletin and the author of four books of non-fiction: The Secret: The strange marriage of Annabella Milbanke and Lord Byron, Gum: The story of eucalypts and their champions, and Herbarium and Museum with visual artist Robyn Stacey. The Body in the Clouds is her first novel and was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize Best First Book (South East Asia and Pacific), and the New South Wales Premier's Literary Awards.
