Follow Orpheus into the Underworld and experience poetry as you’ve never heard it before with five of Australia’s leading poets: David Brooks, David Malouf, Brenda Saunders, Judith Beveridge and Mark Tredinnick in the Cathedral Cave at Jenolan Caves, Oberon.

Beveridge,-Judith
Judith Beveridge (Australian)

Judith Beveridge has published four books of poetry, all of which have won major prizes including the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Award, the Queensland Premier’s Literary Award, the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award, the Grace Leven Prize and the Josephine Ulrick Poetry Prize. Her most recent collection is Storm and Honey. In 2005 she was awarded the Philip Hodgins Memorial Medal for excellence in literature. She is the poetry editor for Meanjin and teaches poetry at postgraduate level at the University of Sydney.

David Malouf (Australian)

David Malouf is the author of short-story collections The Complete Stories, Dream Stuff and Every Move You Make, and of acclaimed novels including The Great World (winner of the Commonwealth Writers’ and Miles Franklin prizes) and Remembering Babylon (shortlisted for the Booker Prize and winner of the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award). Ransom was shortlisted for The Age Book of the Year Award and the Queensland Premier’s Literary Award. He also writes poetry, drama and libretti for operas. Born and brought up in Brisbane, he lives in Sydney.

 
Tredinnick,-Mark-(c)-Vicki-Frerer
Mark Tredinnick (Australian)

Mark Tredinnick, winner of the 2011 Montreal International Poetry Prize and many Australian poetry awards, is the author of 11 works of poetry and prose including: Fire Diary, winner of the Western Australian Premier’s Book Award; The Blue Plateau, shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards and winner of the Queensland Premier’s Literary Award; The Little Red Writing Book; and Australia’s Wild Weather. His poems and essays are widely published in Australia and the United States. He lives on the Wingecarribee River, south-west of Sydney.

David Brooks (Australian)

David Brooks is a poet, novelist, short-story writer and essayist. He teaches Australian literature at the University of Sydney and is co-editor of Southerly. His latest work, The Sons of Clovis, is a comprehensive reappraisal of the Ern Malley hoax and a revelation of its French origins.

Saunders,-Brenda
Brenda Saunders (Australian)

Brenda Saunders is a Sydney writer and artist of Aboriginal and British descent. She is a member of the Diverse group of poets who write and perform poems in response to visual art. Her poetry has been broadcast on Awaye! and Poetica) on ABC Radio National and has been published widely in edited anthologies and journals, namely Overland, Famous Reporter, Five Bells and Etching Indigenous. She was recently shortlisted for the David Unaipon Prize, Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards 2011.
