Manning Clark, the historian, and John Burton, the diplomat, were eminent Australians whose reputations have been sullied after their deaths. Their children, Andrew Clark and Pamela Burton, tell Anne Summers about their never-ending battles to preserve the good names of their fathers.

Andrew Clark is a journalist and author. He has been an editor, literary editor, foreign correspondent, political writer and business writer. He has also written for The New York Times and given guest lectures at Yale and the Budapest University of Economics. He now writes for The Australian Financial Review.

Anne Summers is the author of Damned Whores and God's Police, Gamble for Power, Ducks on the Pond and The End of Equality, among other books. She edited the landmark American feminist magazine Ms. and Good Weekend and has written for The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian Financial Review and numerous other publications. She has been an advisor to prime ministers Bob Hawke and Paul Keating, chaired the board of Greenpeace International, and been deputy president of Sydney's Powerhouse Museum. She lives in Sydney. Her latest book is The Lost Mother.
