Publishers and editors often say they can tell from the first few pages of a manuscript whether it’s worth their while reading on. Don’t let your first chapter let you down! Join experienced editor Nicola O’Shea as she shows you how to examine your own writing for common weaknesses such as overwriting, stilted dialogue, flabby sentences and overused adverbs. Let Nicola teach you how to make revisions to strengthen and vitalise your first chapter.

This workshop is suitable for fiction and non-fiction writers. Please bring a printout of your own work that you are happy to write on and cut up.

Supported by Pantera Press.

Duration: 3 hours
Maximum capacity: 16 participants
