Join Lex Marinos, Monique Shafter, Anna Barnes, Cassandra Wilkinson and Nick Keys, plus, we invite you to come up on stage for our story slam. Bring your stories on the theme of public vs private, and register your interest in advance:

Nick Keys (Australian)

Nick is a Sydney-based writer who works in a range of media, from talk performances to online writing and visual collage. Semi-improvised talk is a practice he is working on specifically while studying an MFA at Bard College in New York, where he has spent the last three American summers. Monique Schafter (Australian)

Monique Schafter is a Walkley Award-winning reporter/producer who co-hosted the ABC's groundbreaking current affairs program, Hungry Beast. Over three series as a reporter, Monique covered a variety of topics such as mental illness, bullying, gay conversion therapy and disability. Monique also writes a weekly column, 'Tomboy Tales', for the Star Observer and is currently working on the ABC's nightly current affairs program, 7:30.

Lex Marinos (Australian)

Lex Marinos has worked across all media as an actor, director, writer and radio personality. Recently appearing in The Slap he is also known on TV for Kingswood Country, Embassy and Late Night Legends and in film for Cathy’s Child, Goodbye Paradise and Bedevil, to name a few. On stage, Lex has appeared with numerous theatre companies. He is Deputy Chair of the Australia Council for the Arts, Member of the National Multicultural Advisory Committee and is Vice-President of the Community Broadcasting Foundation.

Cassandra Wilkinson (Australian)

Cassandra Wilkinson is the author of Don't Panic – Nearly Everything is Better Than You Think. Her speech at the 2008 Battle of Ideas on internet censorship has been downloaded several thousand times and carries a five star YouTube rating. She has written on happiness economics in Happiness and on effective programs for the poor in Right Social Justice. She is currently an opinion contributor to The Australian and regular commentator for Sky News Agenda and ABC The Drum.

Anna Barnes (Australian)

Anna is a Melbourne writer, playwright and researcher. Her new play Minus One Sister will be her Sydney debut at New Theatre in July. She is a PhD candidate researching what role social media plays in friendships of adolescent girls in Melbourne. Thus, she knows way too much about Facebook privacy settings and the complex politics of poking.She has a regular column about celebrity in Melbourne-based arts journal The Lifted Brow.  Her first book, Girl! The Ultimate Guide To Being You is being published by Penguin in July 2012.
