Uncover Sydney’s hidden poetic currents on The Disappearing walking tour. Your guide to fragmentary histories and vanishing locations, The Red Room Company’s Johanna Featherstone, will take you on an exploration of poetry and place. Celebrated poets Martin Harrison, Astrid Lorange and Nick Bryant-Smith will meet you along the way. Astrid L’Orange (Australian)

Astrid L’Orange is a Sydney poet with two books of poetry, Eating and Speaking and Minor Dogs, and her PDF book Pussy pussy pussy what what (Au lait day Au lait day). Astrid also contributes a regular column about Australian poetry to the internationally acclaimed online journal, Jacket2 and was recently guest editor of Cordite. She is completing a PhD dissertation on Gertrude Stein at the University of Technology, Sydney and is regularly between Sydney and Philadelphia.

Nick Bryant-Smith (Australian)

Rapper and spoken-word poet Nick Bryant-Smith (AKA Solo) is one half of Sydney hip hop act Horrorshow. The duo’s first album, The Grey Space, received wide acclaim and earned an ARIA nomination for Best Urban Album. Nick has supported acts such as The Herd, Hermitude and Blackalicious as well as securing spots at Sydney’s Big Day Out, Groovin The Moo, Urthboy and more. Horrorshow’s latest album is due out in 2012.

Martin Harrison (Australian)

Martin Harrison is one of Australia’s most celebrated poets. A senior lecturer at UTS, Martin has written eight collections of poems since 1978, including his latest award-winning new and selected anthology, Wild Bees. Along with his poetry, Martin has written an acclaimed series of essays about contemporary poetry, Who Wants to Create Australia? He has also been a leading ABC Radio producer and broadcaster associated equally with drama, poetry and criticism, and the promotion of innovative forms of sound-feature and sound-work.

Johanna Featherstone (Australian)

Johanna Featherstone is the founder and artistic director of The Red Room Company. Her most recent chapbook is Felt and her poetry has featured in journals Quadrant, Best Australian Poems, Heat and Mascara. Johanna is a research associate with the University of Western Sydney and an honorary associate of the University of Sydney's School of Letters, Arts and Media.
